Australian whips made by
world champion Fiona Wilks

FIONA
WILKS
I first won the Australian Ladies Whipcracking Championship at the Sydney Royal
Show in 1995, 1996,1997, 1998 and retained my title at Sydney Royal Show in
2000. I am the first lady to have won 4 titles in a row.
I have performed at rodeos and shows. Our performance as the "Whiparoos"
is a half hour routine. It consists of ten competition cracks such as rhythm
cracking trick cracking, continuous cracking and accuracy using aids such as
straws, matches, cigarettes and ribbons. Our act is changing all the time and
I have added a rope spinning routine with whipcracking at the same time. I have
my own assistant, Jim (my father), to help in the performances and to commentate
and assist in the dangerous tricks.
